How did your career selection choice match up with your interests?

I have always loved helping people, so this career has always been on my mind since I was a little girl. I had always loved pretending to take care of my puppy as if it were a patient.

Do you still think it is a good career choice for you? Why or why not?

I think it is still a good career in some ways. I have always wanted to be a doctor, so it is already molded into my mind. But now that I read more about it, maybe I want to specialize in something in the Medical Field.

Interests are very important for a career choice because I believe a person cannot work at a job that they hate doing. If you want to be a painter, but you are working as a garbage man, why shouldn't your quit and change your job? If you interested in something, then try a job that consists of similar interests you have.

A Day in the Life:

• 7:30-9:00a.m. = visiting with newborns at the hospital, talking with parents, examining the babies
• 9:00-9:30a.m. = driving to the office
• 9:30-1:00p.m. = visiting with patients in the office, examining patients for routine checkups, colds, sore throats, coughs, rashes, stomach pain, ear aches, and other problems
• 1:00-2:00p.m. = eating lunch; making phone calls to patients, reading the mail
• 2:00-5:00p.m. = seeing more patients (Following the same routine as with the morning patients)
• 5:00-6:00p.m. = calling patients regarding health questions, medication, and potty training; deciding whether or not a child should be brought to the office for examination.
