Career Ideas

Select career of your choice and write three things you think you would like about this career.

Career: Doctor
1. Helping people
2. Looking after my patients
3. The paycheck

Is the career you selected on the list of careers from the Career Matchmaker results?
No the career I have chosen is not from the Career Matchmaker results.

1. Providing Medical care and treatment to people
2. Being interested in human biology
3. Being responsible for other peoples safety or well-being

How did your career selection choice match up with your interests?
I have always loved helping people, so this career has always been on my mind since I was a little girl. I had always loved pretending to take care of my puppy as if it were a patient.

Do you still think it is a good career choice for you? Why or why not?
I think it is still a good career in some ways. I have always wanted to be a doctor, so it is already molded into my mind. But now that I read more about it, maybe I want to specialize in something in the Medical Field.

Do you think interests are important for a career choice? Why or why not?
Interests are very important for a career choice because I believe a person cannot work at a job that they hate doing. School Subjects and Careers

Subject: Science
H C U: U
Career: Anesthesiologist

Job Description
What duties do people in this career have?
What skills do they have?
Without anesthesiologist, surgery would be impossible. Anesthesiologists are doctors who administer the drugs or gases that prevent patients from feeling any pain or sensation during surgery. But that’s not all that these specialists do. They are responsible for the well-being of the patient before, during, and after surgery.

Education
What education and training do you need to enter this career?
What other qualifications are good to have?
Which college or other post high school programs are related to this career?
3 to 4 year bachelor's degree then medical school for 4 years. Those who want to be anesthesiologists must then undertake a 3 to 4-year residency program in anesthesia. Residencies are periods of practical, on-the-job training, which take place in hospitals or other medical settings. Applicants must have an excellent academic record, high scores on the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), and letters of recommendation from teachers and advisors. Medical schools also consider things like character, leadership qualities, and extracurricular activities when making admissions decisions. A good program would be to get into a medical program in high school or even in college.

Person's Name
How did this person get into this career?
What does this person say about opportunities to get into this career?
What advice does this person have for people who want to get into this career?
Doreen:She studied health sciences and biochemistry and go into an anesthesiologist program after medical school.
There always seems to be a shortage of doctors worldwide, especially in anesthesiology and certain other specialties. The only way to get into the field, though, is by going to medical school and then taking specialized training in anesthesiology.

Summary-Your Views
Do you think this is a tough career to get into? What is the most difficult part?
Would you be willing to complete the education and training necessary to work in this career? Why or why not?
This is a tough career to get into. It takes a lot of schooling and I don't even know if I may get into medical school. I think I would want to complete the education and training necessary to work in this career because I want to be in the medical field. This career has caught my eye since I heard about what they do. It sounds like an important job to me. But I am not quite certain about the long hours. If I want to have a family, how will I raise my children, but have to leave during the night for shifts? So I believe my answer is undecided, for now.

Letter To Me

Melissa,

I wish I would have known exactly what was going to happen in the future. You graduated as Valedictorian and was offered a scholarship to U.T. Austin. You went to medical school and received your Bachelor's and Master's degree. You are still working on your PhD. Mom and Dad saw you walk down to get your diploma. Dad even walked you down the aisle. You got married to a wonderful man and had children. You now live in Washington State with your own Doctor's Office. All of our dreams have come true. You just need to push yourself and all this can be yours. Study harder, do extra credit, and work past your full potential. Strive to get what you want like me, and you'll get it.
Sincerely,
Melissa (From the Future)

Spreadsheet Critical Thinking

A spreadsheet is helpful in running a business because using a spreadsheet helps a business owner keep track of his sales, perhaps. Changing values in a spreadsheet affect business decisions because for example, say by changing one value causes the other cell numbers to go down, then the business may want to work on why that value changed. The advantages of creating an automated spreadsheet rather than a hand written one is making an automated sheet is faster and easier. A hand written sheet would take much longer to do. The capability to recalculate automatically when values change makes an electronic spreadsheet more valuable than a spreadsheet created by hand because on an automated sheet the numbers change automatically when you recalculate. On a hand made spreadsheet, you would either have to erase all the numbers and redo the sheet or just make a brand new spreadsheet.

Warren Buffet

Warren Buffet is a stock buyer. In 1998 he started buying Coca-Cola stock like an addict. By 1989, Buffet was now, personally, worth more than $3.8 billion dollars. Within the next ten years, he would be worth ten times that amount. During the remainder of the 1990's the stock catapulted as high as $80,000 per share. Even with this astronomical feat, as the dot-com frenzy began to take hold, Warren Buffet was accused of "losing his touch". In 1999, when Berkshire reported a net increase of 0.5% per share, several newspapers ran stories about the demise of the Oracle. Confident that the technology bubble would burst, Warren Buffet continued to do what he did best: allocate capital into great businesses that were selling below intrinsic value. His efforts did not go unrewarded. When the markets finally did come to their senses, Warren Buffet was once again a star. Berkshire's stock recovered to its previous levels after falling to around $45,000 per share, and Buffet was once again seen as an investment icon.

iPad

The iPad is a new large, high-resolution LED-backlit, IPS display. It is an incredibly responsive Multi-Touch screen. And an amazingly powerful, Apple-designed chip. All in a design that's thin and light enough to take anywhere. iPad isn't just the best device of its kind. It's a whole new kind of device. The 9.7 inch LED-backlit, IPS display on iPad is remarkably crisp and vivid. Which makes it perfect for web browsing, watching movies, or showing off photos. It's also been designed to work in any orientation - portrait or landscape. And because it uses a display technology called IPS (in-plane switching), it has a wide, 178 degree viewing angle. So you can hold it almost any way you want and still get brilliant picture, with excellent color and contrast.
